SHARED MEMORIES
SHARED MEMORIES
A PARTICIPATORY PHOTOGRAPHY AND STORYTELLING PROJECT WITH ELDERLY PEOPLE
“STORIES UNITE US, UNTOLD STORIES DIVIDE US” – Elif Shafak
Talking about memories and telling stories is as important as food. Actually even more important, because food keeps us alive, but stories give value to our lives. Furthermore, by sharing these stories, we can experience meaning and intimacy.
It is also proven that mental health and resilience benefit from constantly filling our collection of stories.
With an exhibition as a result of four sessions of ‘storytelling’, writing and photography given by the artist Petra Vlasman, A group of elderly people from the Casal de la Gent Gran de Montornès del Vallès shares its experiences on the topic of family and love from an emotional perspective.
The participants explain their memories and their stories and embodied them in photographs and poems.
